EDUCATE FOR PEACE

Veo Veo (I spy with my little eye)

The Veo Veo Project is working since 1994; it is a circuit of games for students from 10 to 14. The Project purpose is to awake the conscience of those students visiting the exhibition, as well as make them think about its own opinions and attitudes in concrete situations related with racism and xenophobia. All that while they are going round through the exhibition labyrinth.

This labyrinth is made of interactive panels that invite students to participate and solve questions strictly related with their own social and educational environment.

It is our older educational Project, a lasting and innovative one. More than ten years in three different languages, going round throughout tens of Towns, Regions and Departments of Spain, and other five more European countries where there are organizations that participate in consortium with us.

It is more difficult to promote doubt as a necessary element for critical analysis before the decision making process than spread absolute truths, even if they were, relatively speaking, absolute lies fixed in time because of being harshly repeated. Nothing is what seems to be at first glance. Supposed culprit could be innocent, your opinion is just your opinion not the only one possible, might doesn’t make right even if reason can give you strength. These are the simple argumentations which this project up for debate, focusing on the youngest but that can also promote reflection on grown-up people.

Schools without Racism

Schools without Racism (Escuelas Sin Racismo, in spanish) is at the same time a claim and an action, built on the voluntary work of groups of action made up of professor and students in schools. SWR is a movement direct to all those people who, in the educational process, are involved in racism and integration matters.

As such, the Project expect to be an exchange of different experiences and points of view among all the schools involved.
The goal of School Without Racism is to work in schools and high schools in a medium term, not just with specific actions but with packs of activities so that, during one or two academic courses, share with students and professor problems, questions, answers and demands on topics and distrusts that later can rise to violence and racism.

We aim to touch the scholar community, fathers and mothers included, using teaching staffs as a core actor of the project and employing theatre, audiovisuals, photography, books, games and words as methods. We want to do that from the so called mainstreaming/crossing subjects, which we hope one day will be converted in curricular subjects, within the promotion of a critic conscience that will let children and youth understand the richness that diversity entail.

Test of Tolerance

The Test of Tolerance (ToT) is made of 15 situations that pretend to be as much again moral dilemmas presented as arguments. For each situation will be offered three solutions, valued numerically with 0, 5 or 10 points.

The participant has to choose one of them, for each of the fifteen cases. Before starting, the participant must decide on his own level of tolerance, valuing it whit punctuation from 0 to 150, contrasting at the end of the test his starting self-estimation with the total of obtained punctuation. ToT is presented in an electronic format.
