Assembly of Cooperation for Peace (ACPP) is a non profit, lay and independent Spanish NGO, defender of democratic values from a perspective of social and economic justice. Since its birth in 1990, ACPP firmly strives in pacifism, tolerance and dialogue. We support the democratic and progressive civil society of developing countries, generating local organization, promoting citizen participation and the search for alternatives. We carry out these actions in order to achieve more democratic and fair societies, where the beneficiaries of development are more equally distributed, empowering local actors.
In its educational line ACPP undertakes bodies of work and studies focused on support and development of educational activities for peace and awareness. Our aim is to promote tolerance, solidarity and intercultural attitudes as well as fighting racism and xenophobia so that our society takes an active role in the defence of Human Rights.
We wanted to capture in our name the main values that drive our work. First, COOPERATION with developing countries from a perspective of gender equity and sustainable development, promoting empowerment of the organized civil society of their own countries, enabling them to take the reins of their own development. As such we brake away from assistencialism and aids instrumentalization.
Then, PEACE. Since its birth, in the wake of peace demonstrations protesting the first Gulf war, ACPP actions have been marked by a desire for peace and the attitude that the use of violence can only been considered as a last resort to avoid genocides and collective Human Rights violations.
Aside from these two core values, our actions are based on: equal resource distribution, progressive political affiliation which works towards sustainable and environment-friendly development, the fight against poverty and the struggle for gender equity. In our effort to change North-South relationships we strive to work with both sides and we defend, through our projects of social action and education for development, the values of tolerance, coexistence, solidarity and intercultural attitudes.

We take part actively in Peace, in processes of democratic reform and establishing dialogue, contributing to the creation of a more sensitive national and international public opinion and heightening awareness of it, in order to implement measures for conflict prevention. Such will be executed by International Organizations when legitimately justified by humanitarian reasons.
We want to heighten awareness in European Society to demand actions in defence of these basic human rights to its political representatives.
We will strengthen neighbourhood, syndicate, professional and women organizations, as principal actors in developing countries, as well as the cooperative movement in its management, administration and economic viability.
We will create spaces of exchange and discussion of ideas among public administrations and social organizations.
We will promote social integration of the most underprivileged groups and we will work with those people who look for social change and with those who challenge the lack of liberty and social injustice.
We will defend the public sphere, as well as the collective and social, working to strengthen health and educational public systems (building up the participation of parents, professors and students) and working to improve the access to basic services such as a decent home, drinkable water, transportation and employment. We will also support participative processes of home construction, promoting projects for the conservation and distribution of water resources.
We strive for “globalization”… of the rights of citizens.
We proclaim the role of women’s organizations as core actors of development.
We will make aware the need to protect environmental resources and its compatibility with development
